WAYNE It had been home to a rowdy nightclub. Lately, it has been a bustling commuter parking lot. And next year, one of the last big open properties along Route 23 will be taking on another, still undecided, life.

Familiar to many in the area as the site of the old Mothers nightclub, the roughly 16 acres of land could be offered up for new tenants as early as next spring. That, NJ Transit says, is when it will rip up the macadam and leave the lot for a new park-and-ride across the highway.
