WEST MILFORD - The new mayor and council have not reappointed some longtime members of the township's Environmental Commission and Open Space Committee, leaving vacancies and preventing one of those advisory panels from holding its monthly meetings.

Some former members who were snubbed feel the new Republican government wants to remove environmentalists from township boards - especially activists who have publicly supported the sale of the redevelopment zone to the state Green Acres program for preservation.
