Decemberists, "O'Valencia!"
When the Decemberists, the hyperliterate rock band from Portland, Ore., announced the "Reanimate the Decemberists" contest, they wanted fans to fill in the background to the "O'Valencia!" music video. What happened instead was that Stephen Colbert took mock- offense, claiming the contest copied a similar, earlier challenge on "The Colbert Report." All hell broke loose, and a star-studded guitar "shred-off" ensued. Finally, the Decemberists' contest is over.
