Summary


There is no sign on the facade. The old one shattered on the concrete sidewalk, felled by gravity and misfortune. Tributaries of rust dribble down the vacant white shell. Island-shaped scars leave the marquee disfigured.

Jean Williams is not wasting her time trying to scrape away the rust. She has no intention of polishing the facade. She purchased a new sign but said the town of Rutherford won't let her put it up without filling out a stack of forms. And why bother?
