PASSAIC -- Twelve priests dressed in ornate robes in an array of color -- crimson, gold, white -- filed onto the altar before the congregation at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, where each placed a bare foot above a silver basin. The spiritual leader, stripped of his red robe and wearing a white gown, individually washed, wiped and then kissed each priest's foot.
