An expert witness presented by the plaintiff testified that 50 percent of children with myotubular myopathy - the rare genetic condition Justin Tineo was born with in 2003 - cannot survive past their first birthday. Of those who do survive, expert Dr. Daniel Adler testified, 50 percent will not live past the age of 10. Others - depending on the level of care they receive and their physical progress - could conceivably live up to age 30, Dr. Adler said.
