NEW YORK - In one of his many previous baseball jobs, Sandy Alderson crafted an A's roster that would appear in three straight World Series championships. So it's probably not a surprise that as he introduced himself to his newest baseball job, the general manager of the flailing Mets, he mistakenly harkened back to his personal glory days.

"I want to say that I view the position of general manager of the Oakland -- of the, excuse me, New York Mets -- as really the best job available in baseball," Alderson flubbed during opening remarks at a Friday afternoon news conference at Citi Field.
