Pete Amoruso, one of the best known and most widely respected high school sports officials in North Jersey, died Friday of cancer. He was 62.

"Everyone is in shock," Demarest athletic director and former Don Bosco baseball coach Greg Butler said. "Let me tell you something about Pete. He was the ultimate professional."
