Richard O. Ullman, a pharmacist who helped pioneer the prescription benefits business, died of cancer Thursday at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in Manhattan. He was 70 and lived most of his life in Wayne.

At his death, he was owner and chairman of BeneCard Services Inc., the prescription benefit management firm he founded.
