North Jersey Turks reign at parade in Paterson, Clifton

PATERSON -- Thousands of Turks gathered in Paterson and Clifton on Saturday to put their pride on display, celebrate their growing numbers and highlight their contributions to the community.

The fourth-annual Turkish American Festival started with a parade more than a mile long down Main Street past Turkish restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, video stores and pharmacies. The parade ended at Clifton Park, where the youth dancers from the American Karachay Benevolent Association performed and about 40 vendors sold food, clothing and jewelry.
