Summary


Those hotels in historic Morristown, along the Hudson Gold Coast and near the Meadowlands sports meccas are bringing in big revenues for their hometowns.

But now state tourism representatives, who say they work hard to attract travelers to those very hotels, want a piece of the action. The object of everyone's attention: The 2003 Municipal Occupancy Tax ordinance allows municipalities to collect a 3 percent tax on each room rented and use the money as they choose.
