EAST RUTHERFORD -- After the humiliation of the Raiders was complete, after Eli Manning put up four touchdowns before Oakland could even put up a first down, after the Giants played varsity to the Raiders' jayvee and crushed them into 44-7 submission, the decision to let Manning play on a bum right foot seemed both unwise and unnecessary.
If the Giants needed only 10 passes in less than two quarters from Manning to beat this joke of a team called the Raiders, then surely they would have handled Oakland nearly as easily had backup David Carr played the entire game. If Manning had stayed on the bench after a week when he practiced only once, he would have eliminated any possibility of exacerbating the injury to the plantar fascia ligament in his right foot.See the full content of this document
