RUTHERFORD - The Borough Council is expected to formally accept the Planning Board's redevelopment plan for the downtown property that includes the Maples rooming house on Chestnut Street and several storefronts on Park Avenue.

Borough planner, Ryan Rapp, walked the council through the plan Tuesday night. It would not allow rooming houses such as the Maples - two three-story wooden houses with 35 mostly low-income residents, many on public assistance or handicapped. It would allow the Maples' owner Victor DeLucia to redevelop the site for new housing and stores.
