A growing number of North Jersey educators are teaching special needs children for the first time, and advocates worry that some inadequately trained instructors may shortchange students.
Federal and state laws mandate that children with disabilities receive appropriate public education throughout their academic careers, with instruction tailored to meet their unique needs. The number of special needs students in mainstream classrooms have increased statewide, due mainly to federal legislation that encourages the inclusion of such pupils in general education courses.See the full content of this document
