Stryker Orthopaedics, the Mahwah-based maker of artificial hips and knees, has accused a former salesman of violating his non- compete agreement even as he accepted more than $720,000 in payments under the deal.

A suit filed by the manufacturer in U.S. District Court in Newark claims the agreement barred Scott Nizolek from working for a competitor or soliciting Stryker customers for a year after he left the company on Aug. 8, 2008.
