HAMPTON TOWNSHIP Parents took issue Wednesday night with the way its rural Sussex County school district was responding to a book some elementary school children had written that was filled with references to violence against their classmates.

Hampton Township School Superintendent Everett Burns confirmed Wednesday that the book's authors were allowed back in school after being suspended and were given a "preliminary" psychiatric evaluation. But four parents who said their children were mentioned in the book said the district didn't respond strongly enough and shouldn't have allowed the children back in "without a complete psychiatric evaluation."
