St. Peter's College in Jersey City appointed its first lay president on Thursday. Eugene J. Cornacchia succeeds the Rev. James N. Loughran, who died in December.
Cornacchia has worked as a teacher and administrator at the school for 26 years. Prior to his appointment in January as acting president, he was the provost and vice president of academic affairs at Saint Peter's.
