Summary


Governor McGreevey has a chance during his final weeks in office to lay out bold solutions to the state's problems and not have to worry about whether his opinions offend voting blocs, interest groups, or deep-pocketed contributors.

But if the way he was talking Tuesday about property taxes is any indication, that's not going to happen. It's possible that spending his whole adult life hewing relentlessly to poll-tested messages left him, at 49, unable to speak plainly about what he thinks should be done about one of the state's most vexing governmental problems.
