Summary


If Scott Glenn has his way, his little yellow submarines will fan out across the oceans of the world, and New Jersey students will be along for the virtual ride.

The 6-foot-long submersible robots glide through the ocean to collect real-time data about temperature and water quality and composition and relay it via satellite phone back to Rutgers University's Coastal Ocean Observatory Lab. There the data are combined with information from other satellites and sensors to create a picture of undersea exploration for scientists and, now, K- 12 students.
