Members of the clergy can't be compelled to solemnize gay civil unions, state Attorney General Stuart Rabner said in an opinion issued Thursday.

Rabner cited the state constitution and rulings in unrelated cases that found churches led by people with "sincerely held religious beliefs" were not subject to the state's antidiscrimination law.
