The top-of-the-Saab-line 9-5 sits between the all-things-to-all- people 9-3 at the smaller end of the scale and the 9-7X sport- utility vehicle, which is built on the General Motors platform, at the bigger end.
Available in SportCombi wagon and a four-door sedan variations, the 9-5 should be considered a Swedish alternative to some of the higher-end German makes out there. Certainly it's tough challenging class-leader BMW, not to mention other contenders from Acura, Lexus and Infiniti, but that doesn't stop the 9-5 from trying even though there's just one well-equipped model of each body style for 2008 and just one engine.
