THINGS are looking up at Rutgers. The football team has won a couple of games, although not against other Big East Conference schools. It has lost two games as well, unfortunately. On Saturday, against Syracuse, which is indeed a Big East school, Rutgers was defeated by 10 points. Still, the team managed to put 31 points on the scoreboard.
Elsewhere, the news is more encouraging. A year ago the state university and its president, Richard L. McCormick, were embroiled in an ill-conceived plan, embraced by Governor McGreevey, to merge Rutgers with the University of Medicine and Dentistry and with the New Jersey Institute of Technology.See the full content of this document
