PARAMUS - The borough will ask a judge to determine whether the mayor, council members and the borough attorney can review requests for public records, a challenge that could alter how the state law governing public access to documents is interpreted.

The Borough Council approved a resolution seeking the opinion in a 5-0 vote Monday, with one member absent. In it, the council seeks a judicial interpretation of the Open Public Records Act, or OPRA.
