Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck should be permitted to continue performing elective angioplasties, New Jersey health officials said Thursday, reversing an earlier recommendation by another state agency.
The State Health Planning Board overruled the state Health Department and said Holy Name can reapply to stay in a controversial national study of the artery-clearing procedure. The study is examining whether it is safe for hospitals to offer an elective angioplasty if they do not have a backup cardiac surgery team on site to handle emergencies.See the full content of this document
