FAIR LAWN - The school district spent about $14,000 in the school year's first three months to investigate possible illegally enrolled students, continuing an effort launched in the previous school year.

Last school year, during its first complete re-registration of students in many years, the district spent about $50,000 to investigate questionable residency cases. The district investigated about 250 students and trimmed about 75 from the rolls. Another 60 or 70 students left voluntarily or for other reasons.
