WHAT'S NEW: Six states joined New Jersey this week in its fight against lightly regulated garbage transfer facilities along rail lines. New Jersey welcomed New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont and Colorado in its appeal that it should be able to impose state environmental standards on several of these rail facilities in North Bergen.
The states contend in an amicus brief filed Tuesday with the federal Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit that such facilities should be subject to the same laws that regulate any garbage station regardless of its location.See the full content of this document
