Christine Mozes was named head of the state Division of Youth and Family Services on Thursday after two years as deputy director.

Mozes, 39, will be paid $122,700 to take over the child protection agency. DYFS is charged with investigating allegations of abuse and overseeing 45,000 vulnerable children, including nearly 10,000 in foster care or other placements. The division has an $898 million yearly budget and 4,000 employees.
