Summary
Jorge Posada was 16-for-35 (.457) entering this stretch of six interleague games at NL parks without use of the designated hitter, and manager Joe Girardi admittedly was worried about Posada cooling off. Posada might fill in at first base if Girardi decides to give Mark Teixeira a day off. Until then, Girardi hopes to give Posada at least one at-bat per day as a pinch-hitter, as he did with Hideki Matsui in 2009.
In Friday's ninth inning, Posada -- pinch-hitting for Eduardo Nunez -- batted as the tying run but was struck out by Carlos Marmol. The Yankees weren't happy with home plate umpire Greg Gibson's call, and Nick Swisher voiced a similar complaint after earlier striking out looking against Doug Davis.See the full content of this document
