Paterson Man Faces Charges in Tax Scam ; Fraud Allegedly Reaped $210,000

A Paterson man has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $210,000 from the state by filing for hundreds of bogus tax and homestead rebates, according to the state Attorney General's Office.

Mack Barden, 58, who was indicted on Monday and arrested in Lodi on Thursday night, faces felony charges of money laundering and theft by deception both second-degree offenses. If convicted, Barden faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $150,000.
