Passaic Gop Rift Continues with Screenings

Summary


The Passaic County Republican Party and a splinter faction are holding separate meetings to screen candidates for governor, exacerbating the rift within the party.

The county's Regular Republican Organization, led by former Freeholder Mike Mecca, held a meeting Feb. 19 to screen gubernatorial candidates. A Reform Republican Committee, which split from the regular organization in January, will hold its screening Saturday morning at the Brownstone in Paterson.
