Pals Say Gravano Ordered Hit On Cop [Corrected 11/08/06] ; Other Cases in Doubt If He Lied for a Deal

The inmates, who befriended Gravano in federal prisons in Arizona and Colorado, told investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office that he privately admitted his role in the killing as early as 1992 a year after becoming the most celebrated "rat" in mob history, documents obtained by The Record show.

In the years that followed, Gravano grew increasingly worried that his involvement in Detective Peter Calabro's murder might become known, which could have voided the favorable deal federal prosecutors...
