WHAT'S NEW: More than a dozen buildings on Main Street in Lodi will be razed next month as part of a $38 million state project to widen Route 46 and ease congestion in the borough.

The state Department of Transportation will level about 18 vacant buildings, paving the way for a 2 1/2-year project to widen the highway, improve drainage and replace two bridges, Borough Manager Tony Luna said. Several of the buildings have been vacant for years. Others, including a used-car lot, were purchased by the state to accommodate the project.
