CHARLOTTE - Vince Carter gave the Nets an idea of his leaping ability during his first practice with the team. Even on one leg, Carter can get up.

But Carter, hobbled by a strained left Achilles' tendon, said he probably wouldn't play his first game as a Net until after Christmas. When he does, Carter plans to show anyone who believes his skills are deteriorating and he's no longer a gravity-defying talent that they are dead wrong.
