Republicans retained their one-party rule of Morris County on Tuesday, reelecting three freeholders, Sheriff Edward V. Rochford, and Surrogate John Pecoraro.

County residents reelected Freeholders Douglas R. Cabana, John Inglesino and Jack J. Schrier to three-year terms, sending Democrats Jo Ann Byrnes, Gary Colucci and Colleen Ann Labow to defeat. A Democrat has not won a seat on the Freeholder Board since 1973.
