Dan DiPino and I share a passion for mogul skiing. Dan a pro mogul competitor and freestyle coach at New Hampshire's Waterville Valley skis bumps better than I, of course. And that's why I traveled to Waterville last season to spend a morning learning from a master.

People consistently ask me, "Why should I kill myself learning to ski moguls when I can ski so easily on groomed runs?" I could readily wax poetic about the joys of mogul skiing the sense that you're actually skiing the mountain, not some artificial highway; that you're skillfully adapting to changing terrain; and, not least, that mogul skiing feels great once you've got the rhythm going.
