State highway workers were on standby Sunday, poised to hit roads with 1,200 plows and 600 salt spreaders to ease a Monday commute that could be made tricky by a winter storm.
Snow began falling in New Jersey early Sunday evening, spreading up from the southern part of the state, where the heaviest snowfall was expected.
