WAYNE -- The unofficial theme of this year's Wayne Day Festival was "Back to Basics," a motif organizers said emphasized a return to simple pleasures and the fair's own efforts to tighten its belt during a biting economic recession.

The fair, which routinely draws more than 20,000 people to the grounds behind Wayne Hills High School, offered the usual rides and games for kids, fried food, musical acts and glad-handing opportunities for local politicians.
