Summary


Once again, the Yankees had gone extra innings to beat the Red Sox, winning the winter just like they won the fall. Aaron Bleeping Boone beat the Sox again. How about that? Boone beat Boston. Again. If he had just limited himself to shooting free throws in his driveway, the Yankees would've had a third baseman and Alex Rodriguez would've stayed a neutral weapon in this arms race.

Only this time, the Red Sox ownership left A-Rod out there too long, just like Grady Little did Pedro Martinez. This off-season turned out to be some sort of seven-game American League Championship Series itself, the Red Sox looking like they had won everything with Curt Schilling, Keith Foulke, and A-Rod. Only, they don't just lose A-Rod. John Henry and Larry Lucchino apparently have lost him to the Yankees in the 11th hour, just like Little lost it in the 11th inning.
