If your gang is anything like mine, they always get hungry after you've passed the last roadside stop for 50 miles, or long before you planned to quit sightseeing to go eat. There's no worse traveling companion than a hungry, crabby child, so I always stash a couple of power bars and granola bars in a backpack, along with some water bottles.
