ON TUESDAY James Cummings was sentenced to more than three years in prison. Cummings was the former facilities director for the Paterson School District. He was hired to help mold the future of the city's children. Instead he helped himself.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of soliciting and accepting bribes. Cummings accepted $47,000 in cash and construction work at his home. He, along with the principal owner of Olympic Windows in Hawthorne, has to pay $750,000 in restitution to the district. Cummings has been cooperating with federal investigators.
