TAMPA, Fla. - If the Red Sox really want to hurt the Yankees for snaring Alex Rodriguez, owner John Henry needs to shut his mouth and get real. Not even Boston fans can take seriously a plea for a salary cap, not when their Sox are spending $125 million this year. Instead, Henry can one-up George Steinbrenner by focusing on a more vulnerable Yankee target - Joe Torre.

The most successful manager of the last 40 years has no contract beyond 2004, which is reason enough for the Red Sox to get involved in the Torre-Steinbrenner dynamic. Even though Boston recently hired Terry Francona, nothing would give the sniveling Henry more pleasure than to steal Torre away in 2005.
