KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -Islamic countries are urging the United Nations to take the lead in Iraq when U.S. administrators give up power, and Pakistan and Malaysia said Wednesday they might send troops to protect the world body if it returns to the country.
The move comes as Washington warms to a U.N. plan to install a caretaker government to replace the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council on June 30, and as American military planners try to find ways to bolster their forces amid rising violence and the planned withdrawal of some allied troops.See the full content of this document
