The decision on Oliver Perez won't come until today at the earliest. Collins and Mets GM Sandy Alderson spoke on the phone about it, but will meet this morning with pitching coach Dan Warthen - and likely Perez for part of the meeting.
Perez showed up Sunday, one day after getting raked for a pair of homers in his worst spring outing, and worked out with the other pitchers. When he was done, he said Collins and teammates Jose Reyes and David Wright were supportive after the rough day. He is scheduled to throw a bullpen Tuesday and be ready to pitch Wednesday through Friday. But those plans seem likely to be scuttled with his release.
