A municipal judge who authorized Ridgefield police to search a home stocked with 500 guns and 500 pounds of gunpowder had no authority to grant the warrant, a state appeals court has ruled.

The search warrant signed by Cliffside Park Municipal Judge Michael S. Shuhala was not valid because he had no authority to authorize police action in Ridgefield, according to the opinion.
