Hospitals' Outlook Improves ; Report Cites Higher State Funds

Increased state charity-care funding is helping to stabilize - and in some cases improve - the credit and financial health of not- for-profit hospitals in New Jersey, a leading bond rating agency said Monday.

A 53 percent increase - to $583 million for fiscal year 2005 - in the money that New Jersey reimburses hospitals for care they give to indigent patients has improved their overall financial performance, according to a report by Moody's Investors Service in New York.
