LAKEHURST - The state police's new homeland security unit has been used three times for terrorism patrol since it was established last month, Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said Thursday.

Troopers who are part of the unit were on commuter rail platforms in New Jersey the day after a train bombing in Spain last month. They also patrolled train stations on St. Patrick's Day as part of a plan to monitor crowds traveling to New York for big events.
