Haledon Council Delays Budget Approval Till Sept.

Summary


HALEDON -- The Borough Council has postponed adoption of the 2009 municipal budget until at least Sept. 3, and potentially Sept. 17, as one of the longest budget seasons in recent memory drags into another month.

The borough received $450,000 on Aug. 7 in state extraordinary aid, granted to local governments with unusual financial circumstances to avert extreme tax hikes. That sum is equivalent to about $200 in property taxes for the owner of a home assessed at the borough average of $160,168.
