Haledon's First Black Council Member Resigns

HALEDON -- Marc Battle, the first African-American to serve on the Borough Council, resigned the post this week, citing time constraints brought on by a new job.

Battle, an attorney, said he recently took a new job as legal counsel for Pepco Holdings Inc., a utility company. The new job requires that he travel frequently to Washington, and he can no longer commit the time to serve on the borough council.
