Seventeen years ago today, the passenger ferry Neptune capsized near Port-au-Prince, Haiti, killing an estimated 900 people.
The 150-foot boat was used to transport people, cargo and animals from the coastal city of Jeremie to the capital city of Port-au- Prince - a 150-mile, 12-hour trip. The ship was intended to carry a maximum of 650 people but was routinely overloaded.See the full content of this document
