There promises to be a national mourning in Canada, where they're waking up to discover that maybe there is no Santa Claus, that maybe a nation's most beloved son has his flaws, too.

For his own good, the good of these Olympic Games, the executive director of Team Canada hockey can't come here. Before the puck is dropped in the medal round, it sounds like a grand jury could want Gretzky in New Jersey answering questions about the involvement of his Phoenix Coyotes assistant coach and wife in a sports gambling ring.
